Tribe Vibe - The Timechain Edition
Hello Tribe Vibers!
This week we share Part Two of our conversation with Erin Redwing, Bitcoin Astrologer and former Astronomer. Our conversation this week centred around Bitcoin’s utility as a historical record, providing an accurate measurement of time and a permanent record of history since the first block was mined 3rd January 2009. So what is this timechain business about?

🎓 Bitcoin 101: Why is Bitcoin a Timechain? 🕰️
The first block that was mined on the Bitcoin blockchain by Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin’s anonymous creator, had an inscription embedded within it “The Times 3 January 2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks”. The inscription referred to the article below and recorded two important things:
A statement about the reason for Bitcoin’s creation (governments and banks cannot be trusted and continue to debase our money)
A timestamp that connects the first block of the bitcoin blockchain to a specific date in the Gregorian calendar (3rd January 2009).
So why is any of this significant? In our discussion with Erin on our latest podcast she talked about how the position of the stars allows us to mark a specific moment in time that is absolute, as opposed to being relative in the way that the Gregorian calendar is. Bitcoin operates in much the same way. As each block is mined, a moment in time is recorded on an immutable digital ledger.
As the bitcoin blockchain supports inscriptions, which can be text, video or audio, we now have a means to record an immutable history that cannot be re-written, and will be available to future generations.

📈 Trending News
1. Don’t cry over spilt milk 🐮
The Scoop🕵️♂️: Dairy producer Arla recently announced a program in the UK with supermarket chains Morrisons and Tescos that would see them selling milk produced by poor cows, treated with a “methane inhibitor” Bovaer®. Bovaer is a known toxin and the backlash from retail consumers has been immense with a huge boycott of Arla products underway.
Why You Should Care🚨: This latest debacle by Arla is a prime example of how an unsound monetary system permeates everything, including food. “Fiat Food” as it is often called, is cheap, toxic and usually designed to create profits for someone (not you) while damaging your health.
What This Means for Bitcoin ✨: Bitcoin doesn’t care. But Bitcoiners do. Many are farmers, wine makers and bakers, and they universally focus on producing healthy food that is free of toxins. You can find a handy list of Bitcoin food producers here: https://x.com/i/lists/1864180827413733681
2. Celsius Founder And Former CEO Alexander Mashinsky Pleads Guilty To Multi-Billion Dollar Fraud And Market Manipulation Schemes
The Scoop🕵️♂️: Alexander Mashinsky, founder and former CEO of Celsius Network, pled guilty to commodities fraud and securities fraud. The schemes included misleading customers about the company's profitability and safety while manipulating the price of Celsius's CEL token. Mashinsky used customer funds to inflate CEL’s price, selling his own holdings at inflated values for $48 million in profits. These actions left thousands of retail investors with billions in frozen assets when Celsius declared bankruptcy in July 2022.
Why You Should Care🚨: If a company offers yield, you should approach it with skepticism. High returns don’t come out of thin air—there must be a source of those profits. In cases like Celsius, the promised yield was funded by risky bets and customer deposits, making the business model unsustainable and leading to massive losses for investors. Understanding where a company generates its returns is critical to avoid falling victim to similar schemes in the future.
What This Means for Bitcoin ✨: This scandal reinforces why many individuals are Bitcoin maximalists. Unlike other tokens, Bitcoin is decentralised, finite, and immune to the kind of manipulation and fraud that often plague centralised platforms and proprietary tokens. This case highlights the inherent risks of investing in assets tied to companies or leaders that can manipulate markets, making Bitcoin’s principles of transparency and immutability even more appealing. As trust in the broader crypto ecosystem erodes, Bitcoin’s unique qualities may attract more advocates and cautious investors.

💼 Women in Bitcoin
The inscription space and ordinals (a system for tracking and assigning value to inscriptions) seems to appeal to women most frequently, who often dabbled in NFTs and created online digital art galleries. The Bitcoin Astrologer, Erin, kindly shared a few sites with us that we thought you might be interested in exploring. Ordinals and inscriptions on the Bitcoin blockchain provide a more sensible alternative to NFTs as the digital artifacts sit on the actual chain, rather than some random IPFS site with the address referenced in the NFT:
