🎓 Bitcoin 101: The Bitcoin Wallet for Newbies - Cypher Box
Bitcoiners will often say “Not your keys, not your coins” but what does this mean? - It means that you hold the private key that allows you to sign transactions, moving bitcoin funds across the network.
Out of convenience, many people allow exchanges and other custodians to hold their private keys. All is well, until the exchange steals your funds (FTX), or the founder dies under mysterious circumstances (Quadriga).
Custodying your own keys is optimal, but its often a journey.
Now you can download a bitcoin wallet that allows you take that journey step by step, when you are ready. Learn how with the below demo👇
📈 Trending News
1. xAI Acquires X
The Scoop🕵️♂️: Elon Musk announced this week that xAI has acquired X, merging the social media platform, often dubbed the modern “digital town square” for news and political discourse, with xAI’s rapidly scaling artificial intelligence ecosystem. Positioning X as a “free-speech” platform proved strategically brilliant, as the platform now offers vast amounts of real-time data for xAI’s algorithms to analyse and learn from, creating a symbiotic relationship between public discourse and AI development. As a bonus, if you pay for a blue check you get to pay for your data to be mined.
Why You Should Care🚨: The erosion of privacy should concern everyone. At best its tedious, at worst it sets us up for a digital panopticon that the Stasi could only have dreamed of.
What This Means for Bitcoin ✨: Bitcoiner Erik Vorhees, has created an AI platform that strives to protect your privacy venice.ai. The service originally launched with Meta’s Llama, now supports DeepSeek, StableDiffusion and many other models, allowing you test them against each other privately.
Who is collecting what data?
This useful graphic from Visual Capitalist gives some insights into what data various AI platforms collect. No surprises that Google’s Gemini is one of the worst offenders…
2. Trump Hangs the Bitcoin White Paper in the Oval Office
The Scoop🕵️♂️: Hah ha! Fake news, but its incredible how many of you fell for it. AI is delightful, but never trust, always verify.
Why You Should Care🚨: Distinguishing truth from fiction will become increasingly hard. So what can you do? Go to source documents, fact check everything before believing, and be open to changing your mind.
What This Means for Bitcoin ✨: Bitcoin is a fantastic technology to constrain the proliferation of AI. Ten31 VC published an excellent article on this topic a couple of years ago which is as relevant today, as it was then. Read it HERE.
