Tribe Vibe - The Nashville Edition
Hello Tribe Vibers!
This week was all about the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville. Bitcoiners from around the world descended on the city for the 3-day conference hosted at Music City Center. There were also a series of decentralised events over the course of the entire week.
Highlights:
Politics
Former President Trump’s Keynote which included a promise to fire SEC Chair Gary Gensler.
The event was attended by 10 US Senators, 2 current presidential candidates and 1 former candidate. Bitcoin doesn’t care about politics, but politics now cares very much about bitcoin with 30m votes at stake in the upcoming US election.
Art - This year’s art gallery was off the chart!

1. University of Wyoming Bitcoin Research Institute
The Scoop🕵️♂️: The University of Wyoming has opened up a Bitcoin Research Institute. Wyoming has been a leader in the bitcoin space, enacting sensible legislation to attract investment and innovation. Now, they have added research into their offering.
Why You Should Care🚨: Bitcoin is the most important technology of our lifetimes. Comparable to the wheel or the printing press. That the State of Wyoming now houses a Bitcoin Research Institute is huge! The move will attract academics in bitcoin, investment and innovation. Watch Wyoming carefully!

2. A Bitcoin Strategic Reserve
The Scoop🕵️♂️: Senator Cynthia Lummis introduced a bill that would have the US Government create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. US National Debt just passed the $35 trillion mark, and Senator Lummis hopes that a Bitcoin Strategic Reserve would cut this in half by 2045.
Why you should care🚨: The US currently has massive amounts of debt, and about 76% of personal income tax is going towards servicing the interest on that debt. The system is well on its way to collapsing, the question is not “if”, but “when”. So what should you do? #StudyBitcoin. It’s your lifeboat.

Becca Bratcher’s new book “21 Women in Bitcoin” is officially out. Get your copy here. Access Tribe is featured in Chapter 9: Contributor Spotlight and we were delighted to be invited to the book signing event at the conference.

We got to hang out with the Pleb Lab team who were out in force at this year’s conference (below with Teresa Martin and Jana aka Pleb Poet). Pleb Lab is a co-working space based out of Austin Texas. They recently ran a “Top Builder” program in conjunction with Wolf NYC and have a wealth of content on their website to support founders in this ecosystem.

Free Market Kids had a huge presence at this year’s conference. The team are the makers of HODL Up, a game that teaches you about bitcoin mining. Must-Watch Episode:
Former President, and presumed future President, Donald J Trump addressed attendees at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville this week. This was the first time that a US president had spoken at a bitcoin event, and that alone marked the speech as an important event in history. While it was abundantly clear to anyone in the bitcoin industry that his knowledge of bitcoin was pretty basic, he came out strongly in favour of protecting the industry and the right to self-custody.
