🎓 Bitcoin 101: The Lightning Network

The global payments system is an archaic, slow and expensive infrastructure that keeps too many individuals and nations outside of the global financial system. This creates huge friction in trade, depressing the economy and innovation globally.

So it will come as not surprise to those who are familiar with Bitcoin as a technology, that “Bitcoin fixes this”.

How? With a layer two solution called the “Lightning Network” that allows payments on the bitcoin rails to scale.

• The Scoop🕵️‍♂️: Bitcoin company, Voltage.Cloud has launched a new payments API for the Lighting Network that supports both bitcoin and stablecoins. As this can now support USD settlements, businesses can offer Bitcoin payments without needing to hold BTC.

• Why You Should Care🚨: Lets just say, that this is pretty epic. It simplifies payments for any company wanting to operate on the Bitcoin rails, and marks another significant milestone in the demise of the global fiat payments systems.

2. Trump and Bukele

• The Scoop🕵️‍♂️: El Salvador was the first country in the world to make Bitcoin legal tender. While they rescinded this recently under pressure from the IMF, it is still, in many ways, bitcoin country. This week, President Bukele visited the White House to meet with President Donald Trump. We bet they talked about Bitcoin 😉.

• Why You Should Care🚨: America is very much focused on supporting bitcoin technology, both as part of the financial system and with a view to inspiring innovators to come back to America to build their bitcoin companies there. You are not bullish enough…but this bromance is rather cringe. “I miss you already, President T.”…really?
